Virtual soldiers should ready themselves for deployment very soon. It has been announced that Armed Assault 2 (or, ARMA 2 as it is affectionately known) is due to begin operations in European theatres of retail on the 26th of June this year.

As a sequel to much loved Armed Assault, the second game in the series will take further steps towards completely realistic modern battlefields, with "in-depth team based combat" and a "comprehensive playbook of military tactics", all backed by an expansive battlefield for players to explore.

The game uses a third generation engine developed by Bohemia called Real Virtuality which has seen use by the Australian Defence Force, the United States, and the United Kingdom in training simulators. The engine supports infantry combat, aerial combat, and also allows would-be tank generals to get behind the wheel of armoured vehicles.

ARMA 2 is set in a fictional former Soviet state known as Chernarus, where players place themselves in the shoes of a United States marine Corp Force Recon squad, who have a simple task - keep peace, and prevent further civilian causalities.

Alex Price, Senior Global Brand Manager of 505 Games, the company with the publishing might behind the title had the following to say:
It has been a pleasure building on the success of the first ArmA title. ArmA has such a vociferous community behind it that we new we had to get this one absolutely right. We are confident that the dedicated fans won’t be disappointed as will as any newcomers to the series.
ARMA 2 is due for release on the 26th of June this year, and will be available on PC.

hey we'll be going into this as well
unsure what the team sizes might be for a competitive ladder
wanna form an alliance if the team sizes exceed our available numbers?
