Flatout Ultimate Carnage - What is it??
You'll have to ask someone who's managaged to actually install and play the game. A feat I haven't and now won't achieve.
There are pitfalls to this game that you should be aware of before jumping in and spending your hard earned.
    Beware!!
This game is distributed through "Windows Live". Which essentially means your committed to jumping through the quagmire of windows live hoops before you can get close to playing this game. Some of you may already run Windows Live and therefore may not have any issues. But for those like me who have avoided the whole windows live thing, then you my friends, should you choose to continue, are in for a nightmarish experience.
The nightmare begins immediately after downloading the 4.6GB game through Steam with a "xlive dll" error that instructs you to reload the game. So 5 hours later and another 4.6GB of the monthly download. You try again and get the same error and same advice. Which is WRONG. The error is resoloved very simply if you know where to look.
So with the dll error resolved I think I'm about to see what all the hype is about this game and begin installation....WRONG
This is where you find out that you need a Windows Live account to run the game.
The game appears to be indirectly interfaced with Windows Live. This interface is simply terrible. Navigation through menu's (for me) is BIOS like with navigation only possible by tab and enter keys with no mouse control available. Consequently I was liminted to tabing through the menu's to complete windows live validation after validation and download after download. At each attempt to load the game your directed to download further Windows Live updates. I'm on my 4th update now and still haven't got anywhere near playing the game.
The game cost $19.95 on Steam. If I could get my $19 back and stick this game up the developers arse, I would.

in the end the game is worth it, its loads of fun, Marshy fixed it for major, you only have the problem once, then its all sweet from there,
i use windows live, and still had only a minor problem, not as bad as yours :(

for anyone going to play this, if it says your windows live is in another region, go to "create" another live account, a page will open.
log in with your existing account, and leave the page open, then log into the game.... you only have to do that the first time
