Yeah its a steamworks games. Everything is handled by steam. Even your saved games apparently. Played the demo last night. Tech tree is very different to Civ IV. Hexes works. Greek Hoplites are phenomenal
100 turns. 3 Civilisations, small map, normal speed I think. Other than those limitations, everything else works. I took out the Roman empire last night, and on the 98th turn I received a Great General, so I think all the game logic and stuff are working fine in the demo. Graphics are gorgeous. Rumours on another forum is that BigW and Kmart will have the game for $75. I think most other 'brick and mortar' places are $99 or there abouts. Beavis, I think multiplayer will be fun. I vaguely recall one of the demo movies talking about people can move simultaneously during the turn, (so first in, first dressed), and you can set a time limit per turn.
Download is 4Gb for the demo - unsure of the full game. Just went down the local BigW on my way from home and they had the game forsale already. Doesn't activate until tomorrow... so its just a case I can look at for now
Meh - the AI truely suck the big ones. Civ IV is far more polished on the AI side of things. I hope a few expansion packs and patch will pull Civ V up on the AI score.
Nah - leave it for 12 months or so. Meanwhile, if you haven't done so, check out Civ IV with the Beyond The Sword expansion. The expansion comes in the full pack version on steam I think.
