Stargate Worlds 1st quarter 2010 Stargate Resistance offers sci-fi fix; doesn't replace Worlds By Brenna Hillier - Thu Dec 10, 2009 3:54am So, you want a multiplayer Stargate game? Get in line, bud; the queue ends somewhere over the border. Happily, the queue will soon have something to celebrate: Firesky have announced the release of Stargate Resistance in the first quarter of next year. The new addition is a PC-only, team-based third person shooter from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, and will see players engage in traditional multiplayer game modes as part of a larger Galactic Domination ware between rival factions System Lords and SGC. If you've been paying attention to the the long and twisted saga of the fabled Stargate MMORPG then you might have already noticed something more than a little disturbing; both Resistance and Stargate Worlds hail from the same developer. What does this release mean for Stargate Worlds? The first effort, Stargate SG1: The Alliance was canned, and lately Worlds has begun to look more and more like vapourware, despite claims to the contrary (see: "we're totally having a beta" and "we assure you we're not dead"). But in a blog post, creative consultant Chris Klug states that Resistance is intended as a kind of peace offering to impatient fans while Worlds development continues: "As well as building this new exciting product, paramount to Firesky’s long-term future is restoring your confidence and trust in us. ... Continue to stick with us. I know you’ll enjoy the fast-paced action Resistance has in store for you while we continue to work towards SGW’s release."So! MMORPG still on the way, lots of shootery action in the meantime. Phew! Thanks to Agent Dark for the tip!
