Quality Control Here is one for everyone that I had today at work, remember I am a Tech for a retail chain store. We had customers come into store and complain that the PC they brought on the weekend wouldn't start up or set up. Instantly I thought to myself, "Another one I have to set to defaults again", this is because people change things. Well I started up the unit went into the BIOS and noticed the HDD wasn't showing, I reset to defaults and still was missing. At this stage it's a DOA (Dead on Arrival) and we swap it out, I informed the customer that the HDD wasn't showing and we'll swap it out for another unit, while putting the tower back into the box I thought I would have a look at the case anyway and noticed that where the HDD sits it was missing including the cradle the HDD sits in and locks into the case with. I checked the QC (Quality Control) seals and they were intact and hadn't been touched at all. I then called my 2IC over and asked him to tell me what was missing, he said "What the hell" and went and grabbed a digital camera, he then took photo's of the seals and then took photo's of me breaking the seals and opening the case. The HDD and the cradle it sits in were indeed missing from the unit. In all the time I have been mucking around with computers I have never come across a unit missing important components, especially from a major manufacture of computers that is massive world wide. So has anyone else come across things like these with poor QC?
Are you saying that this big computer company just builds the the machine but they don't test it? That's pretty poor. Who is it?
What I think is really bad is Whack guessed it straight away. It was a Compaq desktop unit The Boss will be going on a little head hunting I think though with them and the Rep.
Yes they are Ketsu, just been talking to the boss and once he finishes his conference call we are putting together an email with the pictures, going to put in what I did then what the 2IC and I did with taking it apart to double check for missing components. Boss isn't happy with the unit and is pleased that I spotted it straight away. I am still wondering how it got through inspection, it just boggles the mind.
LMAO...It wasn't rocket science Hicks :| besides I did have a compac that I bought from a Harvey Norman outlet and now I have a HP.. the first one has a dead MB and the second is still running ....think I would have learnt from the first one. btw I have a spare HDD and caddy for a HP so you can send it to me if ya like
