    Perpetuum has entered Open Beta

Here is most of the information in the email I got:

We're very happy to inform you that Perpetuum has entered Open Beta, the last testing phase!

From now until the end of the beta test anyone is free to register and try the game, so feel free to bring your friends to play with you!

    Recent changes
The world of Perpetuum has undergone big changes since the last newsletter in May:

    • The game world itself has undergone a number of graphical changes, including new decorations and layouts of the islands, new lighting and better textures

    • A new line of tutorial assignments makes for a smoother starting experience

    • The NEXUS modules have been introduced, which allow players to work more efficiently in groups

    • Territorial warfare has been added to the game in the form of Intrusion events for the outposts of the Beta Islands

    • The system of handling effects stacked on robots has been vastly improved

Well.........it's definately different, the download isn't big at all, under a gig. I started the tutorial, but didn't get too far into it at this stage.

There's the obligitory make a character, making your face, hair etc...then picking one of the 3 countries you are fighting for, Russia, U.S. & Asia. Then there's what you want to run, a strictly military bot, industry or support, or you can have combinations of any of the previously mentioned. Then you choose an education, faction which is similiar to the bot types. Then you actually pick a bot & again there's a number of combinations.

Only got as far in the tutorial as, movement, moving your camera about, locating things in the environmant, targeting & attacking targets. It seems quite in depth so far, it comes across as a bit EVE like I guess, with people choosing just to kill shit, others mining shit & the remainder making shit ;).

I'll post more when I've got a bit more time to play it.
