No local search for Modern Warfare 2

    Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has confirmed that in Modern Warfare 2, Aussie gamers won't be able to seek out other Aussie gamers for relatively lag and trauma-free game sessions.

    From Bowling's Twitter:

    "There isn't an option to search specific regions / countries when matchmaking, but there is improved matchmaking to auto-assist"

    This is bad news for Australia, and all other non-American gamers, and has unsurprisingly triggered some colourful comments in the official Xbox forums: "in layman's terms, we are shafting all non-American gamers."

    It's not like the technology is unfeasible; Treyarch's Treyarch's CoD: World at War supported Local Search.

    This news stacks uncomfortably with the revelation that Modern Warfare 2 will not have any kind of zombie mode...


    This is only for consoles I believe lol

    Y'all need to hurry and set up a XFire Group for AU/NZ; something like "Sheepherders MW2" or "AUNZ MW2" or "Kiwsie MW2" or "Auswi MW2" or well you get the picture. No insult intended. :)

    Stand by for broken match servers.. The codding they use is shit. This just proves it again.

    I'm still not sure that they ever completely fixed the game browser in COD4.

    Is anyone excited about MW2 coming out? I haven't heard much hubbub over here, but I lead a sheltered life.

    Honestly mw2 is just cod4 in a new package.
    yer there will be some changes to the game.
    But at the end of the day! same shit and it still smells like shit.lol
    Spam Spam Spam and more Spam.
    I was not that taken with cod4 and it was crap to work out any strats .
    Pam4 was the shittyest mod ever made.
    Then you had the guys that wanted vanilla and would not play hard core.
    Then the hard core guys would not play Vanilla.
    Cod2 was so simple.
    Even WaW had issues so it's my belief they will stuff it up in some way/shape/form.
    But hay! nothing is ever perfect in life.lol

    To be honest the COD browser has always sucked, it's never been any good at all and they should have designed something decent where you could only filter servers in a region instead of a master list and everything. I don't care if a server in the UK has 32 players and a ping of 600, I want to play on local servers with a ping of 20-40.

    But not having a local search is for consoles only, PC users will still be able to search by ping or use Xfire etc to find games, what we do now.

    Want to know a stuff up Major? Let's say having a Shotgun as a secondary instead of a pistol, this is meant to be a Perk Vampey has read about.
