    Minecraft

Hey guys, I just wanted to say hi, and also that i found yet ANOTHER game that i'm addicted to.... it's called Minecraft : www.minecraft.net is the website. It's a pretty cool game. It's only in alpha and is only halfway to beta. Basically the object of the game is to build whatever you want. You use very high pixelated blocks. At the moment, people have been really interested in the game.

Just thought i'd post another game for us all to play too much :D

Ok, so i am sorry to double post, but i realized, thanks to Fezz's help that i have note given proper information about Minecraft. So here it is:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaMTedT6P0I"]YouTube - Minecraft Fanmade Trailer[/ame]
Minecraft is a 3d, First person style sandbox game. It is a game consisting of various types of textured blocks, each with its own meaning and physics. Now the graphics may be 16-bit, but that's the beauty of the game. Anyone can pick up the texture files and make it look like anything! There have even been retextures to make it feel like you're playing Zelda. Even as extreme as metroid! Lately it has even gained popularity on youtube, and has spread to machinima.

Here is a very interesting and informative tutorial about minecraft:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylVtj-1Ccgg"]YouTube - Your First Shelter in Minecraft (Tutorial Machinima)[/ame]

Now there are two different ways of laying minecraft atm. These being Creative(free version) and Alpha(Paid version). Now if you are wondering, "Why bother paying for a game that consists of cubes and 16-bit graphics?" well then don't! Creative is completely free as the moment, this may change in the future as the game is only in alpha.

    Creative:
Creative mode, or classic as it may be known as is basically a map, where you have the ability to spawn unlimited amount of blocks. These consist of:
    -Stone
    -Grass
    -Water
    -Lava
    -Brick
    -Wood
    -And much more!

The very beauty of Creative mode is the fact that you can make ANYTHING you can think of, albeit the difficulty may vary. Take a look at my current Mega Project!:

This project so far has taken me 7hrs. Thats right, i sat there for 7 HOURS building blocks to make that. Some of you may think im crazy, but its fun! And thats not even the tip of the iceberg my friends.

Over time creative mode has become a sprawling gateway for creativity and crazy people, possibly the MOST craziest would be MR.Lightwarrior on the Minecraft Forums. He has build this beauty called the Shadowmarch Castle from the series Shadowmarch. Heres a link to the thread:
    http://www.minecraftforums.net/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11879&sid=7c8ce550b0ce62e68eddd2248f0339db

Not only this, but Creative also boasts multiplayer. Multiplayer in minecraft is famous for its server softwares. The most popular being MCLawl, a software that allows mobs, trains, a sort of survival mode and much more! The most interesting of all of the server softwares would be the portal in minecraft software. It does exactly as it says. However it is not exactly portal, but heres a demonstrating video:

    Alpha Mode:

Ok, so enough about creative. Thats the discontinued version of minecraft. ALPHA is the most frequently updated version of minecraft, available only via premium minecraft which can be bought at the moment for only 15$! A steal for such a great game! Now alpha may still contain the same blocks as creative, but it has a twist to it...

When you first load up alpha, you spawn mysteriously in the middle of a seemingly infinite map, its the size of 8 earths! (Thats crazy!). Your aim is to survive for as long as you can. You are given no instructions on how to craft, or how to do anything really. However this may be seen as a downfall for the game, but that is only the beginning.

There are several features of ALPHA that set it apart COMPLETELY from Creative. These being:
    -Crafting
    -Creatures
    -Lighting effects
    -Updates
    -Better physics
-and more than my brain can think of at this time of morning!

These features all mix to help you in your adventure to survive. Speaking of adventures, here is a very long series of a mans adventure in minecraft. This is a very helpful series, so if you plan on buying the game, i suggest watching them! :D

    Conclusion:

Minecraft is an extremely addictive game, so far completely made from java by one man, Notch. It has been made all in one year, and is consistently being improved. In fact, this game has had such an effect on people, that the server that hosts the files to download CRASHED! PayPal even crashed for a short time because of this.
So far, there are 827022 registered users, of which 231802 (28.02%) have bought the game. That is amazing for an indie gaming. The developer is constantly talking to big developers, including Valve. This may even go on steam in the near future!

All in all, even if you dont buy it, its definitely worth a try. I have definitely had fun, and i hope you do too! :)

Yeah, atm i find the free version to be more interesting myself. Probably get back into paid when he's finished setting up his company and has more updates up his sleeve. I'm not the type to usually need updates to play a game, but there isn't much i havent already done atm. So am keen for updates :D

Glad to see your enjoying it joker.
