I've been waiting for this one - fan-made rebuild of Half-life using the latest version of the Source engine. Go back to where it all started with Gordon and his trusty crow-bar but in a much more attractive package...

Free to play and out on Steam on the 14th of September.

I'll have to have a look. I read quite some time ago someone was messing with it on the new source engine. Loved HL, was a truely huge game for it's time.

Is quite awesome playing it again and definitely notice the nicer graphics ... forgot about some of the quirky little bits in the game that made it such fun.

Great game, better DL it then & enjoy the new graphics. Have to say HL was graphically sweet when it was released & truely sucked you into the gameplay. Remember some bits driving me up the wall trying to get through them like, the big multi headed beast in the rocket launch pad & having to sneak around or it would hear you, the great big nasty thing down in the rail system that would chase you endlessly & loved the ninja type guys in the warehouse section with great AI that would not just rush you, but take cover & sneak around taking shots at you.

Make sure whatever download you get. you get the Black Mesa setup.exe file. You'll need to open steam, go to games/tools & download the Source SDK 2007 (only small download) then install Black Mesa & enjoy the pretty graphics.

Had a bash at it last night & it's fun. Got to the point of having to jump from the hanging crates & kept missing the last couple & plunging to my death, till I gave up lol. Seems they have even tweaked the physics, with the crates now swinging when you jump on them, so many things to pick up & throw, don't remember it being like that.

Crates used to swing on the original.....tip when you jump always aim for the the hook holding the crate,it stops you from over stepping the crate and falling off.

You can get it from here

    http://games.on.net/file/50858/

Also if you change the install directory(from the default one) it wont play directly through Steam your have to fuck around with the shortcut to direct it.
