Some of you might have heard of a new TV show out called Defiance, it's only into it's second episode and so far, has me hooked, but this might also stem from the fact I am playing the game as well that ties in with the show. This is the first time that events in the show or events in game can effect the outcome of the other one, missions will be added to the game to coincide with the TV show, although the show takes place in St Louis, a town called Defiance and the game you are based in San Fransisco, or whats left of it. It's a 3rd person shooter/MMO/RPG game, there is NO monthly fee, but there is a season pass you can purchase for the updates and expansions for the game. You can pick it up on Steam for $60 for the standard version or the deluxe for $90, you are able to buy credits in game using real money but these are mainly only cosmetic items and boosts to exp etc. You can check out the game http://www.defiance.com/en/game/ You cal also check out the TV show http://www.sftv.com.au/tv/defiance/ At this stage we have a few playing the game, there are some bugs which is understandable in an MMO on release, nothing we've noticed game breaking but Trion are fast to patch and try to fix issues. Gone are the standard MMO roles of Tank / Healer / DPS, you can do instances with 3 other people, all do damage but you can grab a weapon that can do both damage and healing which is handy to have as a secondary. The game is pretty complex in certain area's, would take getting used to but I think for new MMO players it would be easy to pick up and play and for old MMO players, they would have no issues other than getting out of that tank / healer mindset.
