Electronic Arts are at Games Convention, in Leipzig, Germany, and they've taken this opportunity to announce the all-star cast that are due to feature in their upcoming RTS title, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3.

As with all games in the franchise, they're making a big deal about the trademark live-action movie sequences - and this year features the biggest cast ever, drawing from award-winning actors, science fiction legends, action stars, up-and-coming starlets from around the globe and even mixed martial artists. Don't believe us? We've got the full list, plus a new video that shows 'em all off.

We'd already met Gemma Atkinson (from the UK's Hollyoaks), who stars as Allied coalition communications officer Eva, and Gina "Conviction" Carano (American Gladiators, undefeated Elite XC fighter) as Natasha, a deadly Soviet commando, but today we've also learned that the following actors will be involved:

• Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean)
• J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man, Juno)
• Autumn Reeser (The OC)
• Peter Stormare (Prison Break, Armageddon)
• George Takei (Star Trek, Heroes)

...and then there are two of the most recognisable names for fans of competitive mixed martial arts. Not only do we get Gina Carano, but it's also been revealed that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will also have a part to play.

Chris Corry, executive producer at EALA explains:

"This is by far the most exciting cast we have in over 13 years of shooting live-action movies for Command & Conquer. The caliber of the performances we received, both individually and collectively, have really raised the storytelling bar for the franchise. We are really excited that we will be delivering such a high quality production that is on par with movies and television shows."​

Jenny McCarthy is playing Tanya, the Allied commando and perhaps the most beloved heroine in the history of the C&C universe.

"I wasn't sure what to expect when I came in to work on a video game. What I realized is Red Alert 3 is not just a video game, it's absolutely an interactive movie. This is where the people at home get to move the story forward, and where seeing the plot thicken is a reward for a job well done. And that's really cool."​

J.K. Simmons is the anti-Communist U.S. President Howard T. Ackerman, and he comments from the set:

"I think video games are one of the new frontiers for actors and using live action is just another way to connect more easily to the gamer rather than CG or animation techniques. To be in a groundbreaking game like Red Alert 3 where we are using full on shooting of live actors and to be with Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry and Peter Stormare, it was a great opportunity for a character actor like me to have some fun."​

...also announced at the press conference is the limited quantity Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 Premier Edition. Fingers crossed we'll get this one Down Under - it boasts a bonus DVD (featuring more than an hour of exclusive content, interviews with the actors and developers, plus behind-the-scenes glimpses at the shooting of the cinematics), plus exclusive multiplayer maps, strategy tips, the official soundtrack - and as a special bonus - an exclusive beta key for a future Command & Conquer title.

We've also been slipped some information about potential pre-order bonuses. We're currently awaiting confirmation on this plan coming to Australia (and if it is, which shops will be making it available), but in the meantime, here's the details on what you'll get if you pre-order your copy of Red Alert 3!

Due later this year for both PC and Xbox 360, you can get a bit of a head-start on Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, by picking up a copy of Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, which will grant you automatic entry into the Red Alert 3 beta, happening right now!


Games Convention is sure to pack a few more surprises, and I'd imagine that EA will have a few more surprises up their collective sleeves - but for now, you'll have to sit tight. We'll have more information for you as it comes up, and in the meantime, go check out that beta!
