Arma2 Well, I am not really one for modern warfare FPS's since BF2, which I didn't find all that engrossing for me personally. But, after hearing Vampy & I think Scowy talking about Arma2, I thought I'd take a look as Vampy said it's too realistic for his liking & that sounded good to me. It is very realistic looking, no bunny hopping, spam boys allowed . These guys have made a simulation, not just an FPS & you can't jump. There is the typical range of weapons, from pistols to MG's, but there are also RPG's, mounted MG's, static launchers & artillery. There are a big variety of tanks, anti aircraft, rocket launchers, trucks, hummers, APC's, transport & combat choppers, combat aircraft & even a C130 as well as civilian vehicles, including a bus & just for Hicks, a push bike . The map well this is what they state: 225 km2 of real world data 1 million 3D objects 350 kilometers of roads 50 towns and villages 2 dams and numerous small lakes and ponds Certain hilltops reach an altitude of over 700m Almost 100km2 of forests Urban areas contain ports, factories Military installations including large airfield Direction and distance signs accompanying road network Civilian population and wildlife Arma2 officail site: http://www.arma2.com/ Here's a the internode demo download. http://games.on.net/filelist.php?app=4366&menu=5 I'm going to take a closer look myself.
My son found some youtubes of Arma2, here's just one. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy_osU-eA8s&feature=related"]YouTube - Arma 2: Village Battle[/ame]
Was looking at it Myself, but from what I've read it's still very Glitchy with quite a few bugs in it ATM
I've downloaded the trial which I did last night, it looks interesting and I want the realistic part of the game play myself.
I had a quick bash at it today before work, ran the boot camp & had a quick lash of MP & I have to say, I like it. I'll have a good go tomorrow (day off) & report my findings.
I downloaded the demo from Steam and tried playing. I can play it, but it really funky on my machine. I barely have the specs to run it. Too bad cause it looks pretty nice.
