    Alien Swarm (Now FREE)

Well it's a top down shooter game that requires you all to work together as you need a medic and so on. Some missions require a Tech Marine to proceed so you need to have one on hand! It's similar to Alien Breed for those who have it, me included, but the advantages are
    1. It's Free
    2. It's 4 player co-op!
    3. It's a shit load of fun.

    Bad Points
    1. Only 1 campaign (so far)
    2. Addictive gameplay
    3. Get to yell at Vampey for running forward.

It's hosted by a player as P2P but it works a lot better than other games, also not hard on downloads etc either from what I seen last night, I was hosting for a few hours.

You will need Steam installed to play this game, but most if not all of us have it so that is ok, It's around the 2gig mark but I would say grab the game as it's free and give it a go. Link for steam is http://store.steampowered.com/app/630/

I would probably rate this game a 7.5 out of 10, it loses some points because it's only 1 campaign at the moment and so far I've finished the game twice, next is to try it on the harder modes with a good group of people to work with!

It is mate, shit loads of fun, We had last night Vampey, myself, Drac and Pistol on and was a lot of fun mowing down Aliens, you really need to stick together and work as a team, there is Friendly Fire which is bad when people panic and run around in circles in front of Drac's flamethrower or my mini gun.

Here's how to turn the game into a FPS:

    http://www.neoseeker.com/news/14422-alien-swarm-tweaks-allow-first-person-view-more/

If you don't know how to enable the console, go to Options, then Keyboard/Mouse, and click the checkbox that says "Enable Developer Console". Now you can open up the console mid-game or in menus by pressing the "~" key.
Want to play the game in a first-person view? Type firstperson, asw_hide_marine 1, and asw_controls 0 while you have the console open (try experimenting with them one at a time to see their effect).

I downloaded it last night (sorry Hicks not sure why you couldn't join?) found it hard to control the characters from the 'above view',but I'm used to FPS.It was hard with just my son and I playing as we only had 2 kits,so if you ran out of ammo and you were a Tech and medic you got over run,is there ammo pick ups if there is no soldier kit?.

The FPS change view is something I will be checking out tonight

You need to remember where ever you point the mouse is where your character will face, it takes a little to get used too. Also for Ammo if none of your team mates take the ammo pack to drop then you are boned, really boned.

Everyone can fill up using a dropped ammo box EXCEPT the special weapons who is using a mini gun, they need an ammo bos for themselves without Vampey knocking off ammo out of it, they have to have a full one. I'll be more than likely hosting a few games over the weekend for some fun and will have a gander at the 1st person view too, would be shed loads of fun, I am also looking at installing a sound pack which makes the radar, gun sounds and the swarm as all sounds from Aliens, of course this was aimed at me I am sure :D

If you have steam and don't have me added guys, do so!

hicksauzi is my Steam ID to add.

Cant seem to get FP mode happening. I put in the commands asw_controls 0 and asw_hide_marine 1 and nothing changes except the marine disappears and I'm still looking down on them from above., 3rd person.

I've seen a video for the 1st person but the game was patched yesterday I think or Friday and they might have removed that view, not sure.

Oh you mean 'firstperson' is also a command? I only tried the last two, silly me.

Do you put each command in separately or can it be done on the one command line also does it matter in what order?

I did them separately, but not sure if they can be entered on one line. That would be TOO easy.
