    Immortal Capsuleer,

Today, we are happy to announce a new change that’s coming to EVE Online in November that will fundamentally change New Eden, and how our pilots access it.

In short, cloning scientists in New Eden have developed a new method of cloning that revolves around two new clone states, Alpha and Omega.

Omega clones will be familiar to all our current players, and will operate just like a subscribed character does today.

Alpha clones will be accessible for free, without subscription, and will be capable of training an assigned set of skills themed to a character’s race.

There’s a Dev Blog, published by Team Size Matters today with more details on this feature, and a questions and answers section where we look to clear up some initial concerns and questions regarding this change.

CCP Seagull introduces the Clone States feature for EVE Online, slated for release in November 2016. With Clone States both old and new players will be able to take part in EVE for free.

Community feedback will be an enormous part of shaping the form of Clone States, and we’re encouraging all our pilots to get involved and share ideas, feedback and comments on the feature as we develop it and move toward release.

There’ll be more information on how you can get involved via the CSM in the coming week or two, and we’re also hosting several questions and answers threads where CCP Seagull, CCP Rise and several other members of the EVE Dev Team will be on hand to answer questions in the coming days.

If you’d like to comment on the blog and its contents, you can do so in the Dev Blog comments thread here.

If you’d like to give feedback on the changes themselves and discuss the finer points of Clones States, you can do so on the Official Forums here.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to give feedback via a third party venue, you can do so over in the Questions & Answers thread we’ve set up on the EVE Subreddit here.

Let us know what you think, and help us make this awesome!

Should be fun to get some free characters together with friends and make Tech 1 cruiser gangs for some one fun nights with no strings attached.

I wonder if the OLDr! corp should be reactivated? I have no idea who is/was in charge of that. Maybe not though. Anonymity might be in order. :)

I wonder if that's one of Hicks' alts. I don't remember that character. I mean i got 20-30 alts, but that's not one of them.

FTP is live now. I opened 5-10 of my dormant accounts and started them training in alpha clone mode. The alpha skillsets are limited and so far I don't see too many problems with the FTP model. I still have 2 paying accounts for comparison.

The biggest issue is the 2 factor authentication for all accounts. I don't remember half of the email accounts that I used on all my old dormant accounts.

At least they did away with having to remember a character name on the account.
I was lucky, only one email address to remember for this kind of thing. I've had it for so long, you have probably received spam from it....lol

I jumped in the other day and had a look, I will have to pay the sub if I want to fly my Golem and mission whore, would need to check what I can fly on FTP though.

Clones in the Alpha state will be able to train and use a specific set of skills including tech one Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers for your faction along with essential weapons and modules. Alphas will also train skills at a reduced rate compared to Omegas.

I think that alphas train at about half speed. Omega speed has not changed as far as I know.

T1 cruisers are the top of the ladder for alphas. And alphas can't use cloak, and I am glad or we would have had cloaked alphas all over null.

At least alphas can use ventures. Venture mining is not too bad. You can usually get around 800K ISK in one haul in hisec with them.

I have mining barges and an Orca, so high sec mining consists of me stripping entire belts :D
