It's been so long since I've chatted with many of you on that other site that I won't name out of courtesy and some of you have probably forgotten me, or at least tried to. :) For some, you would not have even known me by this name, it would have been Preston Hill.

Don't all run away screaming at once.

Anyway. Onto why I'm here. I'm sure many of you remember an old game called Call of Duty: United Offensive. Well, it seems that after I posted about bringing together some possible rounds for it over in our public FPS forum at www.thegamingstandard.com, more people were interested in the idea that I thought would be at first. After contacting some members of my old COD:UO squad, I thought, something is missing..... What could it be? Well duh. It would be the old friends from the Aus/NZ squads, many of which seem to have ended up here for one reason or another. It took a bit of searching to find you guys, but here I am.

So what say you? Ping or no ping... Without any weapon classes or worry about... Just pick a weapon and fire...

    Interested?

Outside of that, I hope you are all doing well. It has certainly been a long time since I last chatted with many of you, voice or type.

Not sure what is going on. My apologies for the 2nd thread. For some reason the site is not letting me reply to ther other thread, regardless of browser. each time I would click on "post reply" or "more options" it would just popup with my mini profile. Combine threads if necessary.

    Anyway...

    Welshman:

Welshman, I'll tell you the same thing I told Pavlov when he told me the furthest back he went was COD4.

OMG, there's a name from the past I've not seen around for a fair few years :).

First up you should be able to reply to this thread now so I've merged your second one into here.

I'd have to dust off me UO discs and prob even setup an XP machine but I could well be interested in having a UO run around for sure :D. Good to hear from ya and good on you for finding us :D.

Heya Vet (Preston) :) FeRaL you may remember me as & I do have Vanilla & UO installed on this Win7 machine. Vanilla plays well but I'm yet to get UO to run on it. I'm sure there's some fixes out there but if you can point me to some I'd love to get it working and have a run around with ya sometime. It has been quite a while too m8! Good to see yer still about & enjoying the CoD series as I do!

I'm going to see if I can get UO running this week. I have been able to get COD running, but have had some issues with UO, using my Vista machine.

On another note, I don't know what happened to Koot and the others. Their UO server has been down for a long time now. Maybe some of them might like to join in, if you can find them.

First off: CFodder, typing out a reply and clicking the "post reply" button still just brings up a floating mini-profile window for me. Maybe I should just sign up as a regular member? Looks like you have a few American members in here already, so the invasion has already started.

and what I would have posted:

So far, I've had no issues running UO under Win7-32bit. I just got off a server a moment ago.

For those that have asked. I've been doing alright. A lack of employment at the moment, but hopefully that will be fixed soon. One good thing is it's given me a bit more game time. :)

I'm not sure what possessed me to bring up CODUO, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. So far, almost everyone I've contacted has liked the idea.

Though it may change, right now, this is being discussed in our public FPS forum at http://www.thegamingstandard.com. I'm considering setting up a stock server somewhere, but there are plenty of public servers out there already. The one I just played on is a stock all weapons server ran by a group called Elder Warriors. http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/8.9.31.105:28960/

I think I missed the simplicity of just picking a weapon and going. No classes, no perks, just shoot.

I do recognize many of the your names that have replied. I've chatted or been part of a thread with a few of you already on other sites. It's good to be reminded sometimes of the past, even if I was the occasional thorn in the side. :p

It started out, looking for old Jump_Honner. I found a reference with his name to this site. I had of course seen the OLDr tag before, many times, but didn't realize until now how many familiar names from that other site were here.

I've tried to keep up with the COD series. I've got all but the last game, which I don't see myself getting. It's my belief that Act/IW has now pretty much given up on the PC community and is now out to just make as much money as they can. I was suckered into buying the two map packs for MW2, and was led to believe that things would be different with COD:BO. When the "paid" map pack was issued for BO, I stopped right then even as I was actually the lead person for a COD:BO group at the time. My favs are COD:MW, and especially COD:WAW, but I just felt like a bit of retro gaming recently.

EDIT: Another thought I had recently, especially since I found my discs, was some possible COD2 as well. Just throwing it out there.

CoD: WaW & CoD2 are what I mostly play. Actually a few of us here frequent the 10th Mountain Divisions Tactical Crouch server which is based in Texas. LOVE that tac crouch :) We have a WaW server with a great bunch of maps that you'll recognise from Cods Vanilla, UO & Cod2 as well.

I'll have a crack at getting UO running soon.

Well I've managed to fudge it so you can reply to threads now, don't know what the problem is but will look into it further.

Have merged this into your original thread :).

Yep there are few of us here in the open, and several undercover. I was outed already as an agent for the US branch of the Tasmanian Gamer Underground, but I stay for whatever tidbits of information that I can pick up, and to run interference for my brethren still under the sheets.

Well, I don't know when it will happen, but apparently there is enough interest in this idea that a couple players that couldn't find their discs have ordered new ones.
