Call of Duty

Here at OLDr! All of the incarnations of the Ever Popular FPS franchise “Call of Duty” are played and well represented. We have 2 servers devoted to these games which are open to the public or can be locked for members’ enjoyment only, for those special fun nights

.

One server can be set up for either Call of Duty or Call of Duty United offensive as we wish while the other can be switched between Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4. All versions are setup with configs for either standard or a good assortment of Mod Maps and game types. Our servers are maintained by generous donations by our members though no one is made to pay for their use. Donations are strictly voluntary and the servers are free to use for everyone.

We field squads in the Game Arena competitions for Call of Duty 2 and call of Duty 4 at the moment and although we don’t set the world on fire we surely have a great time and sometimes shake up the young’uns out there

Steam Games

A few Steam Games are played here at OLDr, TF2 being the most popular at the moment. We don’t have our own server yet but there are are plenty out there that we can have fun in!! Come join us

Day of Defeat: Source is a conversion of Day of Defeat, the World War II online shooter that was originally developed as a free mod for Half-Life. Built on the Source engine and distributed through Steam, Day of Defeat: Source offers team-based game play with scenarios inspired by historical World War II battles. It was the first Source game to incorporate high dynamic range (HDR) rendering, predating the official HDR technical demo, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast.

Team Fortress 2 is an online team based FPS game from the mighty Valve gaming. It utilises the brilliant Half Life2 next generation graphics for the terrain, buildings etc... but the characters are of a cartoonish appearance, which actually works well.

They have reproduced all the TF maps from Team Fortress Classic but have added different game mods rather then the basic capture the flag of the original. There are maps for which control points must be taken & held, there are maps in which one team is to defend & the other attack & still they have the old classic 2 Fort which is CTF .

Unreal Tournament 3

We have some members still playing this game, though we could do with some more!! Any takers?

Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) is a first-person shooter and online multiplayer video game by Epic Games and is the next installment of the Unreal series after Unreal Tournament 2004. It is published by Midway Games and was released in North America for Windows on November 19, 2007. It was released in North America for the PlayStation 3 on December 10, 2007. The Linux installer is planned to be released later as a downloadable installer that works with the Windows disc.

Unreal Tournament 3 is actually the fourth game in the Unreal Tournament series and the eighth Unreal game, but it has been numbered in terms of the engine it runs on. The original Unreal Tournament uses the original Unreal Engine, while UT2003 and UT2004 use the Unreal Engine 2, and 2004 incorporates all of the content from 2003; therefore they are considered as the same generation. UT3 is subsequently part of the third generation, because it runs on the Unreal Engine 3, and does not reuse any content. In March 2008, Midway announced that UT3 had sold over a million copies worldwide.

World of Warcraft. (WoW)

We are currently building on our Guilds in this game. We play mostly on the Proudmoore server currently and have the Order of the Long Dagger on Alliance side and the Officers of Life and Death on the Horde side. World of Warcraft (commonly known as WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It is Blizzard Entertainment's fourth game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the world of Azeroth, four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise. It is currently the world's largest MMORPG in terms of monthly subscribers.

The first official expansion pack of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007. During the 2007 BlizzCon event, Blizzard announced a second expansion pack called Wrath of the Lich King on August 3, 2007. The release date of Wrath of the Lich King has not been announced.

Lord of the Rings Online. (LotRO)

We are well represented in this game and have our Australian Kinship up and running with a Kinship House almost in our grasp

LotRO is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, where you create a character, complete quests, collect items from these quests as well as from anything you kill along the way (and there is plenty of them) & in turn you gain experience, wealth, skills & all this enables you to level up. It is a vast game.

There are in excess of 14 huge maps with more being added with patches, which are automatically downloaded. The world is vast & beautiful, the graphics in LotRO are stunning & with a PC of the recommended requirements the world really does look good. Each map has many quests, lots of nasty things to avoid or kill (depending how tough or brave you are), many towns, farms, hamlets to visit & always the NPC's to talk to & maybe even get more quests to take on.

The quests can be long or short & there is the larger quest, which actually follows a story line. You can quest alone or group up, but some quests can not be completed alone unless you are a way higher level then your enemies & then you get little experience points for the quest.
